Hole Wall Stability Analysis of Coal Seam Drilling Based on Slurry Performance Regulation and Control

  • In view of the problem of frequent hole wall collapse during the drilling process of the East Coal Project in Jinyaosi of Sunan County, Gansu Province, based on the theory of slurry performance regulation and control, proposes a regulation and control technology with the optimization of slurry specific gravity, viscosity, and dehydration property as the core. Quantitative calculation of the effective specific gravity and viscosity of the slurry is conducted through formulas, combined with strata differences, the slurry formulas are adjusted, the slurry circulation parameters are controlled, and the bearing capability of the hole wall is improved. The real time monitoring means are adopted to accurately adjust drilling pressure, rotation speed, and pump volume, and to ensure the rheological property and circulation stability of the slurry. The practice shows that this method reduces the hole wall collapse rate to below 1%, achieves a rock core recovery rate of over 85%, improves drilling efficiency by 18%, shortens the drilling cycle by 15%, and improves the life cycle of drill bit replacement by 20%. This research verifies the effectiveness of slurry performance regulation and control in terms of improving the stability and economy of coal seam drilling, and has widespread promotional value.
